Following 18 months of collaboration where football has been used as a platform to support Variety SA in raising vital funds, this announcement marks a significant evolution into a formal, philanthropic partnership focused on creating genuine community impact.

The co-branded Foundation Fund will deliver immediate and measurable outcomes, ensuring that children under the age of 18 are not excluded from football due to financial hardship, disability or social disadvantage. 

The Fund will launch with a $50,000 annual contribution from Variety SA, matched by a $50,000 contribution from Football South Australia, establishing a minimum annual impact pool of $100,000, with the capacity to grow through corporate partnerships and community fundraising initiatives. 

With more than 45,000 participants and over 250 clubs statewide, football is uniquely positioned to deliver meaningful, grassroots impact across both metropolitan and regional communities. 

Through this extensive network, the Foundation Fund will provide targeted support across three key areas:
• Participation Support Grants — Covering costs such as registration, boots, apparel and equipment
• Education and Pathway Scholarships — Supporting long-term development opportunities
• Micro and Inclusion Grants — Addressing immediate needs, accessibility and hardship
