You may be eligible if:

Your child is aged 8-17years, and have an existing talent in Sport or the Arts

Living in South Australia

Your child is sick, living with a disability, or experiencing disadvantage (financial or living in regional/remote areas)

Documents Required To Apply

Don’t worry — most families already have these documents available.

A medical letter

(if your child is living with disability)

A letter from your child’s GP or paediatrician explaining their diagnosis. It must be dated within the last 3 months.

Two Support Letters

Can be from a therapist, allied health professional, teacher or coach explaining:

• Acknowledging the child’s talent
• How the child will benefit from a scholarship

These letters must be dated and not be more than 3 months old

Proof of household income

Recent documents
(within 3 months):

• 3 recent payslips, and/or
• A Centrelink statement

If self-employed: your latest tax return or Notice of Assessment.

List of Expenses

List of anticipated expenses to be utilised with the scholarship funding being requested.

How the Application Process Works

Our team carefully and confidentially reviews every application. You will be notified of the outcome within 4-8 weeks. If approved, the grant must be used within 12 months of the approval date.

Application

Fill in the form, include all relevant documents and letters.

Assessment

Our team reviews your application to make sure it meets the guidelines and may request additional Information if required. If eligible, it will be reviewed by our Kids Support Committee.

Outcome

Every submitted application will receive written confirmation of the outcome of their application via email.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Variety SA does not provide cash grants. Funding supports the purchase of approved equipment and tangible items. Payments are made directly to the supplier, not to the applicant. Reimbursements will only be considered in exceptional circumstances and must be pre-approved where direct payment by Variety SA was not possible.

No. Funding must be approved prior to the purchase of any equipment or services. Variety does not provide retrospective funding.

Once your grant is approved, you have 12 months from the approval date to use the funding.

Committee meetings are held monthly. However, the full assessment and deliberation process may take approximately 6–12 weeks from the date your application is submitted.

Variety’s policy allows one scholarship per child within a 12-month period. Applications will only be considered if the child has not received funding from Variety in the previous 12 months.

No. Funding is available for one activity only per scholarship application.

No. Scholarships are intended to support children who have demonstrated existing talent and commitment in their chosen activity. Funding is not available for commencing a new activity.

No, the applicant can only use the funds granted by Variety for the specified goods or services that the grant has been approved for. The funding is non-transferrable.
