The Variety Moto Run is an ‘up market’ event designed to attract motorcycle and motoring enthusiasts who enjoy firing up their bikes and luxury cars for a four-day luxury experience, requiring no organisation on their part. The emphasis is on interesting roads, fabulous scenery, great food and wine, and of course, as with all Variety events, fun and entertainment.
If you are looking for a motoring journey with a fun loving, like-minded group of people, then the Variety Moto Run is the right choice! All proceeds raised from the event will go to assisting South Australian children who are sick, experiencing disadvantage or living with disability.
An entry fee of $550 (incl. GST) per vehicle applies. This fee secures your place in the event and is non-refundable.
A participation fee of $1,500 per person applies. This fee includes shared accommodation, as well as breakfast and dinner each day. An additional single supplement fee will apply for those requesting an individual room.
A minimum of $4,500 of donations per car is to be fundraised to enter the event.
The event is open to entrants with touring motorcycles and luxury vehicles. During the event entrants also have the option of relaxing in the bus that accompanies the event.
As with all Variety events, safety on the Variety Moto Run is paramount. Our experienced team is well equipped with the latest communications equipment and includes medical officials, a fully equipped mobile workshop with motorbike trailer and a bus.
Fundraising cannot cover the registration fee, meals, accommodation or costs of your car, although it can be used for the $4,500 donation component and all donations over $2 are tax deductible.
The most common way to raise money is through fundraising events (such as dinners, trivia nights, golf days etc.) and approaches to sponsors/supporters. Other ideas are included in the Fundraising Guide available for download from the Resource section of this website. New ideas are always welcome and can be discussed with the Variety Events team.
Monies donated to Variety – the Children’s Charity are generally tax deductible under the Income Tax Assessment Act provided they qualify as an unfettered donation; that is, the donor can prove that they have received nothing of value in return for the donation.
WHAT IS NOT TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
Sponsors and entrants should accordingly be aware that the following ARE NOT deductible as donations. These costs are met personally by the entrants:
1. The $550 entry fee
2. Event Participation Fee (includes meals, entertainment etc)
3. Accommodation costs
4. Vehicle purchase, preparation, maintenance and running costs
5. Additional merchandise purchases
6. Associated travel costs, for example, return airfares and accommodation, vehicle return transport or vehicle recovery costs
7. Ticket sales, including raffle tickets
8. Auction items
These comments are to be taken as guidelines only. Variety is not a tax consultant and therefore assumes no liability for actions taken as a result of these guidelines. In any instances where an entrant or a sponsor is uncertain of the tax implications of their involvement, they should consult their own accountant or tax adviser.
